0 French Fries =]

I made real food! =] 

What's better than french fries for breakfast?? I don't know either. 

So here's what you need..

Easy enough right? Okay you may also want some shredded cheese but its optional.. Bacon would be good too..

Peel your potato..

We all know how this works.. I like the plastic-bag-in-the-sink method

Slice it up..

I only used one potato but it was just enough for me. You may want to use one for each person if it's going to be a side dish. 

Pour some oil in your frying pan, enough to coat the bottom

Spread out your potato pieces (this works just as well with smaller chunks)

Salt those puppies

And since you've got the salt out go ahead and salt a raw slice and have at it, it's not bad I promise but it is one of those 'aquired' tastes in life. It took me a while but I'm sold on it now.

They should start to bubble and fizz immediately if you fired up the stove before hand, if not it will take a second but is just as efficient

I like to move them around a lot but you don't really have to

A crowd has begun to form.. They like it when I throw the peelings on the floor, Hank catches them.

They'll start to get some color..

When I take them out I like to put them on a paper towel

This helps get rid of some of the excess oil and stuff

I didn't cut the second batch quite as thin

It all works out though, nothing like cheesy fries for breakfast.. except maybe cheesy fries with bacon... =]

0 strawberry jello pretzel salad

This weekend was Labor day so of course we had a cookout and I took the excuse to make something dessert-y. I found the recipe in a bunch of placed but I'll site these two since I basically combined them >Paula Deen< and the other is >HERE<

Here it is.. these are my mom's hands by the way

So here is everything that went into it.. and yes that is a giant easter-egg-shaped spatula.

Bust up the pretzels, I used sticks but the regular kind would work too

You can further smoosh them this way or you can leave them chunkier, I was seconds from pretzel dust and I think that may have been bad

Theres still chunks though. You'll need about a cup and a half to two cups

Mix in 3T of sugar

Melt down 1 1/4 C butter

Pour it in and mix well

Looks kinda gross but just go with it

You'll want a 9x13 baking dish.. I figured this would do but it turned out being too small. Bake 10mins @350F

Beat up two blocks of softened cream cheese

Add 3/4 to a cup of sugar

It should get creamy

Fold in 8oz of whipped cream

Oh yes.. =]

Spread evenly over the pretzel mush

Stick it in the fridge while you do this next part

Boil 2C of water

Pour in 6oz jello mix and stir well

Add 16oz frozen strawberries

Also add the small can of crushed pineapple

Mix it in good

Pour it over the chilled cream cheese stuff

Stick it back in the fridge for an hour or so and it's ready to go =]

Mmm... Okay I actually didn't really have any of this, mom says it wasn't bad at all but shes had better.. she's pretty brutal, she also says when she had it before it was mixed all together rather than layered. BUT; The Easons(of Sliding E Stables, sorry, no website to link to) came over for a visit and I made them have some, Angie said it was really good and she really like the whole salty vs sweet thing it had going on. So I suppose this means you'll have to make and eat it for yourself to really know how good it is. My input: USE A 9x13 DISH! Mine was smaller and I had an overflow issue, my counter is now stained red from the jello.

2 Paper Rose Hair Clip

I made a hair clip today, here it is:

I was feeling like baking but after wandering through my kitchen and finding only the bare minimum, I kept wandering right on through the garage door out to the massive pile of boxes. From there my journey went onward and upward over the giant heaping mountain of boxes until I found the one that holds craft paper, I selected a couple sheets of purples and retreated back into the house to locate my stack of black paper, after all what would a hairdresser be without having absolutely everything in black.. I then dug up some scissors and twine, you could use hemp, I'm not sure what exactly this is that I found.. other than a tangled mess but it'll do the job just fine. Here is everything.. minus the clip that I found in my hair..

So really just twine or ribbon if you've got that just whatever you have on hand is fine, some colored paper -or in my case black.. a hair clip and scissors

I have clips similar to >THIS< all over my house so that's what I used

Cut out a little square

Round out the edges.. 

Cut it in a spiral shape.. it can be a little irregular that's fine

Start at the outside end

and curl it, try to get it as tight as you can

Hold it for a second then let it go, this is after I let it go, I'm just holding it loosely

I tied a bow around the clip end of the clip and wrapped the other end so there's no metal sticking out anywhere.

Now go out and take some pictures =]

I wasn't sure which side I wanted it on, usually I put clips/pins in the short side of my hair..

But I think I like this one better on my long side. 

Either way I was pretty happy with it. I just want to take a moment to note that I'm wearing color today, this is rare, generally the only color I wear is in my hair. But back to my craft, you can use these little paper roses for just about anything, I also thought of making a bunch and decorating a frame with them or something.. you could also make them out of things other than paper, felt would probably be fun.. ooh! Felt roses on a headband? yeah? maybe next time..
