0 Amazing Frosting

Friday, April 29, 2011
I made this frosting because I ran out of powdered sugar, generally I always make the same frosting, a little butter a little milk and a whole bunch of powdered sugar.. but as I said, I ran out. Since I already had the cake made I needed to frost it with something so I turned to google, remembering >THIS< that I stumbledupon a few weeks ago. Heres how it turned out:
And here is what you will need:
Yes, I know I'm about out of milk, don't worry theres probably another 2 gallons in the fridge, we keep it well stocked - milk is one of the things we go through the fastest.
Start with 5 tablespoons of flour in 1 cup of milk over heat(med)
Stir
Continue stirring, and with the other hand (keep stirring) throw two sticks of butter and a cup of sugar into the mixer
and mix
Are you still stirring? Why not? Get on it
Does it feel lumpy?
Kinda sorta, yeah
I'd say so. Keep stirring
It's lumpy. Stir it some more
Wow! It's magic! Keep stirring until it reaches the consistency of brownie mix
Remove from heat
Make sure the sugar/butter is good and mixed, you shouldn't see the grains of sugar
Add vanilla to the cooling flour/milk mix
Go take a nap, or check your email and suddenly wake up an hour and a half later wondering what happened like I did. You want to give it time to COMPLETELY cool down
Ew, it looks gross..
Dump it into the butter/sugar
Mix it really good
I'm not sure if you can tell by the picture but this is really SUPER light and fluffy, amazingly so.
The recipe for the cake is >HERE<. Everyone loved it, Daddy even got a second piece of cake for the sole purpose of getting more frosting. I liked it. I think I would definitely use it again though I do like the sweetness of my usual frosting.

0 White Cake

Wednesday, April 27, 2011
White cake is simple and easy to make, I linked a recipe >HERE< you most likely have everything you need in your pantry already (if you're someone like me who likes to bake from scratch). Heres how it turned out:
Yummy right? Who doesn't love cake? Here is what you need:
See, I told you it's probably already in your pantry.
Start with a stick of softened butter in the mixer.
Add a cup of sugar and cream together
Then add 2 eggs
Mix and add 1/2 C milk
Mix together
Add 1 1/2 cups of flour
Two teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
Mix it up real good
Pour into your baking dish of choice, I like my 6" round, I think it makes a really cute little layer cake
Bake at 350F for 30-35min -this will be longer(40mins) if you're using a larger dish and shorter for a smaller dish(cupcakes will be 20-25min)
To layer your cakes you may need to make a sacrifice to the kitchen gods =]
Use frosting to glue the layers together
Yay! Pretty cake =]
I was happy with this cake, its simple and easy to make and the cake itself isn't overly sweet(not that that would ever be a problem). I enjoyed making it almost as much as I've enjoyed having it for breakfast =] Cake for breakfast is quite possibly one of my favorite things in life, right up there with dunking french fries in chocolate milkshakes =]

2 Banana Upside-Down Mmuffins

Saturday, April 23, 2011
I made these for Daddy, I found the recipe >HERE< and I saved it for a rainy day. Daddy really likes Banana Nut Bread and thats where the idea came from to make these. Heres how they turned out:
They look pretty amazing I have to say. Heres what you'll need:
Yes the bananas look gross.. its because they're frozen.
Start with butter, 2 t in each muffin cup
Also 2 t of brown sugar, i used dark brown sugar.
Put this in the oven at 375F for 10min
Put 1/2 C flour and 1 t baking powder in the mixer
Add nutmeg
Add 1/4 C dark brown sugar
Mix mix mix mix mix =]
Add 1/6 C canola oil
Add 1 egg
Add 2 T milk
Add 1 t vanilla extract
And I didn't have actual rum on hand so I used rum flavor
Mix mix mix mix mix =]
It should be about time to take out the muffin tin, did you forget about it? Yeah, me too, thats why I'm really glad I had a timer set. It looks bad but trust me it'll be alright.
Peel the bananas
Slice the bananas
Distribute the banana slices into the muffin tin
Spoon the mix into the muffin cups
Bake for 18min at 375F
Flip them over onto a plate
They look really good =]
See, I told you not to worry about the black bubbly gunk. Daddy says they're really good too, I didn't actually try them, I don't really like banana. But they sure look good =]
*NOTE: I used a half recipe*
